SCAMPER is a checklist, and checklists want to be automated
SCAMPER works because it is mechanical: take the thing you are stuck on and force seven specific transformations on it. What can we substitute? What combines with what? What would we eliminate entirely? What does it look like reversed? The rigor is the point, and the rigor is also why solo brainstormers rarely run it: playing facilitator and idea machine at the same time is exhausting.
Brainstormer runs the checklist for you. Pick the SCAMPER lens and your wall regroups under the seven letters, each column holding ideas generated by that specific operation. Empty columns are visible at a glance, which is where the surprising ideas usually hide. For the theory and worked examples, read our SCAMPER technique guide.
The same ideas, other lenses
SCAMPER is one lens on the wall, not a silo. Flip the same ideas into a mind map to see branch structure, or through Six Thinking Hats to argue risks and benefits. Diverge with one method, sanity-check with another, and then let the converge step cluster everything and lift a winner with reasons written out.
You can seed the wall too: drop in the idea you already have and SCAMPER operations get applied to YOUR idea, which is the fastest way to unstick a direction you half-believe in.
From acronym to decision in one sitting
A SCAMPER run in Brainstormer takes minutes: challenge in, seven columns fill, you star what resonates, add your own, then cluster and decide. The output is a scored shortlist and a pick, exportable to Markdown, PNG or CSV. No workshop, no slides explaining what the E stands for.

Questions
What does SCAMPER stand for?
Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify (or Magnify), Put to another use, Eliminate, Reverse (or Rearrange). Each letter is a transformation you force on your challenge to produce a different kind of idea.
Do I need to know the SCAMPER method to use this?
No. Pick the SCAMPER lens and Brainstormer applies each operation to your challenge and files the results under their letters. Watching a few runs is the fastest way to learn the method itself.
