Brainstormer

FAQ

AI for brainstorming: your questions, answered plainly

AI for brainstorming works when the tool does more than generate: it must force diverse directions, run real frameworks, build on your ideas and converge to a decision. Here is how Brainstormer handles the fair questions, including the skeptical ones.

Is this not just ChatGPT with extra steps?

No. A chat thread gives you one linear list of ideas that tend to sound alike, and they die in the scrollback. Brainstormer forces diversity with angle tags, runs structured frameworks like SCAMPER and Six Thinking Hats over your challenge, puts everything on a visual wall, then clusters, scores and converges to a shortlist and a pick with reasons. Different job: not "give me ideas" but "get me from stuck to decided".

Will the ideas be generic?

Some ideas in any brainstorm are obvious, and that is fine: the obvious ones prove the wall is honest. The frameworks and angle tags force genuinely different directions (invert it, borrow from another industry, remove the step, exaggerate it), and yes-and mode builds on your ideas instead of replacing them. You stay the judge: Brainstormer widens your thinking and speeds up your decision, it does not pretend to know your business better than you do.

Is my challenge confidential?

Yes. Your challenges and ideas are private by default, are never used to train models, and you can delete them at any time. Agencies and product teams use Brainstormer for client and roadmap work for exactly this reason.

How is this different from Miro or Mural?

Miro and Mural are excellent whiteboards, but they are canvases: you bring the method, the facilitation and the energy, and the AI assist is bolted onto a blank board. Brainstormer is the partner, not the canvas. It generates the ideas, runs the framework, clusters the wall and converges to a pick. See the honest comparison on our Miro alternative page.

How much does it cost?

Solo is $16 per month billed yearly, most people pick Pro at $39 per month, and Team is $99 per month for 5 seats with shared libraries and voting. Enterprise adds SSO, roles, an SLA and invoicing. There is no free plan; the interactive brainstorm on this page is the test drive.

Can my whole team use it?

Yes. The Team plan has shared workspaces, a common idea library, async dot-voting and a facilitator mode for live sessions, so a distributed team can diverge on their own time and converge together. Enterprise adds SSO, roles and permissions, an SLA and procurement-friendly invoicing.

Do I need to learn SCAMPER or Six Thinking Hats first?

No. Pick the framework from a menu and Brainstormer runs the method over your challenge: it applies each SCAMPER operation, argues each hat, or draws the mind map for you. Using the tool is also the fastest way to learn how the techniques think.

What frameworks does Brainstormer run?

SCAMPER, Six Thinking Hats, mind maps, reverse brainstorming and Crazy 8s, plus freeform divergence with forced angle diversity. Pro adds custom frameworks you define once and run anytime. Every framework is one click; you never facilitate.

Can I export my brainstorms?

Yes. Every session exports to Markdown, PNG and CSV, with clusters, scores and the winner reasoning included, so the output drops straight into your roadmap tool, deck or doc.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Brainstormer runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet and desktop. The wall becomes a compact two-column deck on small screens, and sessions sync across devices.

What happens to my data if I leave?

Export everything first (Markdown, PNG, CSV), then delete your account; deletion removes your challenges and ideas. Nothing you brainstorm is ever used to train models.

Still deciding? Let the wall decide with you.

One challenge in. Clusters, a shortlist and a pick out.
